Thelema Mountain Vineyards
Simply one of the best, if not the best, South African wine estate
Thelema Mountain Vineyards is a small family-owned vineyard which is situated on the top of the Helshoogte Pass, in the Stellenbosch Region of South Africa. Thelema was purchased in 1983 and was the culmination of a long search by owners Gyles and Barbara Webb for that rare location where exceptional wines could be made. Thelema one of the highest and probably coolest wine farms in the Stellenbosch area. Thelema also owns a vineyard in the Elgin region from which they produce a range of wines under their new “Sutherland” label. The Sutherland wines are vinified at their Thelema winery in Stellenbosch.
Thelema wines are recognized world-wide as some of the finest wines produced in South Africa. They have earned a solid reputation from Wine Spectator magazine and Jancis Robinson, MW, recently listed them amongst the top 25 wine producers in the world which have been established since 1978. In December 2008, Wine& Spirits Magazine listed Thelema in their “Top 100 Wineries in the World”.
