Remhoogte Wine Estate
A family run wine estate on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain in Stellenbosch
Remhoogte Wine Estate is situated 4 km outside the town of Stellenbosch on the hills below the Simonsberg Mountain. The 55 hectare farm has title deeds dating back to 1812 and derives its Dutch name from the days of the ox wagons when brakes needed to be applied to the wheels before descending the steep hill down into Stellenbosch. The name typifies the Dutch heritage and is uniquely South African.
The farm offers the visitor the chance of tasting the wines that are grown and produced on the estate. There are magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards and a 6 hectare game area with zebra, springbok and wildebeest.
Remhoogte also offers accommodation in a beautiful cottage overlooking the game area and has a beauty therapy salon to treat yourself while in the winelands.
We would like people who drink our wines to experience the estate, our soils, our slopes, our vines and our terroir. Wine should be experienced and not merely drunk and we endeavour to make every bottle of our wine a memorable experience.
