From the terraced vineyards on the slopes of the Paarl Mountain, a truly glorious wine region, come the patiently produced grapes which are used in every bottle of Masons – a boutique Cape winery.

The De Hoop farm, upon which the berries are grown, has unique terroir and a climate ideal to the making of fine wines. The wines produced by Mason’s are blended skillfully and crafted from the four Shiraz clones each selected to explore the very best that the terroir has to offer. Paarl has long summers with gentle afternoon breezes coming off the Atlantic Ocean and wet winters, resulting in flourishing vineyards and berries bursting with flavor.

Derek Clift, the winemaker has this to say about the wines “The wines are for the discerning drinker who is able to appreciate the distinctive way in which climate and season lend each vintage to its own character, and who values wine as a unique expression of the winemaker’s personality and the vineyards viticultural potential.” There is most definitely something special happening in the Masons Winery as its maiden vintage “Masons Hill 2001” won a Veritas Double Gold Award.
