Klein Constantia
South African wine estate founded in 1685 and home to the world famous Vin de Constance
Klein Constantia’s name has become synonymous with the famous sweet wine of yesteryear, Vin de Constance. The farm’s august history dates back to 1685 when Simon van de Stel established the first working vineyard in Southern Africa and named it Constantia. By the mid 19th century notable admirers of this sweet elixir from Constantia included Jane Austen and Napoleon; today the likes of Nelson Mandela sing its praises.
From this rich and vibrant history emerges the modern Klein Constantia: a farm still producing award-winning and celebrated wines with a vision for the future while preserving the legacy of the past.
