Jean Daneel was established in Napier in 2004. Jean and Renee’s move to Napier was motivated by the more moderate prevailing temperature with L’Agulhas, the most southern point of Africa only 50km away. Their son Jean-Pierre joined the business in 2005 as winemaker.
The wine tasting room is located in the renovated stable next to the deli, The Larder which is in a restored barn behind their restaurant, Reneessance. This main road property in Napier has led to a unique tasting room that has a sense of old and new. The old stable door was kept and the feeding trough has been turned into the counter. The combined styles are a true marriage of rustic and elegance.
