Black Pearl Wines
A boutique producer of fine red wines situated on the western side of Paarl Mountain
Black Pearl Wines is a boutique producer of fine red wines situated on the western side of Paarl Mountain. The family run winery is the dreamchild of winemaker and Cape Wine Master Mary-Louise Nash aided by her father, Dr. Launcelot Nash. The family bought the property in 1995 with the first vintage in 2001.
The terroir is special, being adjacent to pristine renosterveld, 185 Ha of which is under conservation in perpetuity. The vineyard is unirrigated (dryland) and is approximately 7.2 Ha planted with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine making process is very hands-on, gentle crushing-destemming and fermented in small 600 Kg bins. A basket press is used and the wine matures in oak barrels for 12 months.
Our mission is to make fine winemaking and conservation co-exist.
